The significant changes incorporated in this revision include the following: a) New provisions have been introduced for the installation of sloped piping and drips to prevent gas system blockages, ensure proper condensate drainage, and facilitate cleaning, especially in systems handling wet gas. b) Comprehensive guidelines for the installation of shutoff valves have been added to ensure proper control, easy accessibility, and maintenance, with specific provisions for individual shutoff valves for each meter and tenant in multi-tenant buildings. c) The inclusion of over-pressure protection devices for gas systems has been mandated to ensure safe operation and prevent appliance damage due to excessive pressure. | |
| 2 | d) Detailed provisions for the installation and safe operation of equipment powered by internal combustion engines and gas turbines have been added, with guidelines for flexible gas supply connections to prevent system stress from equipment movement. e) Emphasis on proper installation practices for gas-powered equipment, ensuring systems are set up according to manufacturer instructions and safety standards, has been incorporated to minimize risks and enhance operational reliability. f) References to all the concerned Indian Standards have been updated. | |
