| 1 | Petroleum coke is manufactured by delayed coking [thermal cracking] of residues obtained from crude oil distillation units, primarily from vacuum distillation and sometimes from atmospheric distillation units, of petroleum refineries. The petroleum coke thus obtained from different crude oil residues is categorised as Raw Petroleum Coke (RPC). The petroleum coke obtained by calcining the RPC at a temperature of 1200 °C to 1400 °C is known as Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC). | |
