| 1 | Sodium nitrate has a molecular formula of NaNO3 and a molecular weight of 85. Sodium nitrate is one of the important raw materials in the manufacture of explosives and pyrotechnics. It is mainly used as an oxidizing agent in the manufacture of both NG-based as well as slurry-based explosives. Sodium nitrate is also used in glass manufacture and there is a separate standard for the specifications of sodium nitrate for glass compositions (IS 9157 Specification for sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate for glass compositions). | |
